studded gems

studded gems

My love for shoes never runs dry, that’s one thing y’all can always count on me to deliver. And these studded gems are no different. Best part? The price tag is heavenly. Trust me, your summer outfits need these sandals.

First off, I’m usually a little weary to buy boutique shoes because I’m the president of the Chubby Feet Club. But I just had to try out these studded babes. They have been selling out SO fast, but they get restocked often. I couldn’t not share them with y’all because they’re so worth the waitlist. Here are two super similar pairs if you just can’t wait for mine. One and Two.

These studded gems give a seriously high end feel and are a perfect statement for a simple tee and shorts or a sundress for brunch with the gals.

They’re good. And don’t judge my feet. I learned that you probably shouldn’t take pictures of your feet after work for your blog. Life lessons y’all.

If you follow along on Instagram, which you should, you know it’s been a bumpy ride lately. But, your support means the world. Yes, you reading this. And if I could give you a big hug through the screen, I totally would.

So, just know y’all are amazing. AND stay tuned because I’m sharing a bunch of good things in the upcoming weeks. Don’t forget that even when I post to Instagram, I link what I’m wearing here!

retail therapy + a new dress

retail therapy + a new dress

I’ll be the first to testify, retail therapy is real. I’ve noticed in the past when there’s a big life event or maybe a bad experience, I find myself in a mall or boutique. This past weekend was no different, and I found a cutie new dress and some adorable summer sandals. So, I’m sharing the details with y’all and I kept it under $75.

Let me tell y’all, there is slim pickings when it comes to shopping choices when you’re in a small West Texas town, but don’t worry, I always find a way. So, when I needed a different outfit for an event I went to Beall’s, now called Stage. If you aren’t from the South, you’ve probably never heard of it, but I don’t even usually shop there. It’s kinda like a more inexpensive Belk, if that helps explain it. Turns out, it was the perfect spot for some good old retail therapy.

I was looking for a bright and happy new dress for a not so bright and happy occasion and this was the winner. It’s kinda Free People inspired, but definitely a little boho and a lot flowy. Basically everything I love. It runs true to size and is so comfortable with chiffon fabric, which is perfect for summer. I love the patchwork print that you can dress up or down.

And can we take a moment for these adorable summer sandals? Let’s take another moment for the price tag. They’re under $30. Yes, you read it right. They are such a fun addition to this outfit. I was able to keep my jewelry super simple because of these bad boys. You can wear them with so much and they are great quality for the price. You’ll love them.

Sooooo cutie.

Basically, never be afraid to give in to that retail therapy session. You never know what you’ll stumble upon.

cheers,

go-to summer glow products

I am a firm believer that having a nice tan glow boosts confidence ten-fold, especially in the summer. Every time I have sun-kissed skin I feel like I can conquer the world, it’s the best feeling. I want y’all to have those summer glow feelings too, so I’m sharing my go-to summer glow products.

I mean look at those legs y’all.

Anyways, bed tanning is so 90’s. Skin cancer anyone? There are so many ways to safely get bronzed, but my go-to is at home sunless tanning. It’s just easier for me because I usually do it right before bed. It’s also usually the less expensive route, however it isn’t always the easiest to do on yourself, but after a couple times you’ll work it out.

There has been a lot of trial and error with different products I’ve tested over the years. I am in love with my go-to summer glow products, but there was a time when I tried something new and looked like a giraffe the next day. Doesn’t almost everyone has a tanning horror story?

I have two favorite brand when it comes to my go-to summer glow products. Just a disclaimer, I am not a self-tanning expert. These products work wonders for me, but read reviews or see if they’ll work on your skin type just in case.

They are both amazing summer glow products, but they have a couple things that make them stand apart. I like that Loving Tan Express only takes 2 hours, so if you’re last minutes (like me), it will save you in a pinch.

Also, Loving Tan has a back tanning mitt that I would totally recommend if you don’t have someone to reach those hard spots.

St. Tropez is a better deal, usually, and I love their tan extending moisturizer. It smells amazing and really makes your tan last longer.

Basically, you can’t go wrong with any of the go-to summer glow products. Just make sure you follow the directions and maybe watch a video or two. Lastly, in the words of my girl Miranda Lambert, “tan fat is better than pale fat”.

cinco outfit mamacita.

cinco outfit mamacita.

There’s a holiday Texans love to celebrate probably more than the natives themselves, good old Cinco de Mayo. Maybe it’s the extra excuse to enjoy tacos and tequila or the celebratory chips and queso. Either way, I’ve always loved Cinco de Mayo and dressing for it is even better. So, I’m sharing my favorite Cinco outfit with y’all just in time for this weekend!

There’s a couple key ingredients to the perfect Cinco outfit and the first is color. You need all the bright, pretty, happy colors you can find. Anything fun and festive for this holiday includes all the best summer colors and is a serious statement maker.

I can’t get enough of the top I’m wearing and I’ve had it for a couple years now. I actually bought it when J and I were on vacation in San Antonio. J thought I was crazy, but I couldn’t leave the little market without it. Now it’s one of his favorite things I wear.

I wish I could take y’all back to the market in San Antonio, but a couple links will have to do. Here is a traditional top and dress, similar to mine.

Also, one of my favorite brands has some perfect Cinco outfits. I’m linking my favorites here and here. They always nail the fresh and so so pretty look. Remember this dress, yeah same brand. Same obsession.

If you aren’t feeling the more “traditional trendy” look, go graphic. Graphic tees always save the day when I want to look adorable, but casual. And you’re in luck because I found three perfect graphic tees for your Cinco outfit. Here, here, and here. The best part is none of these scream “Cinco”, so you can wear them for whatever shenanigans your heart desires.

Here are similar shorts and my under $25 shoes, too.

So basically, bright colors, add tequila, some queso, and maybe even a sombrero and you’ve got the best Cinco outfit and atmosphere, mamacita.

cheers,

caitlin

summer favorite

summer favorite

Every season, I have that one piece in my closet that I always reach for and this dress is my summer favorite. From graduations, birthdays, baby showers, crawfish boils, and more. I always reach for my seasonal favorite, and no I’m not talking about ice cream, I’m talking about this perfect Free People dress.

I snagged this babe last week on sale and shared it on my insta-story. Speaking of insta, go follow me if you haven’t already! Anyways, I had been looking at it for a while, but of course, pulled the trigger when I saw it was on sale.

 \

Pro tip: I’m linking it here and there’s a code on the site for an extra 30% off, but it’s also here and here.

It’s become a summer favorite for me already and it might show up in my closet in black too.

First, it’s so comfortable. It’s super breezy and loose, which is perfect for Texas summers. The less clothing touching you the better you feel in the blazing heat. I love that it’s flowy so you don’t have to worry about sucking it in after a couple pounds of crawfish and margs. That always makes life way easier.

Second, the details make it an instant summer favorite. They basically speak for themselves, but the details are so sweet on this dress. The blue embroidery is super summer-y and the perfect amount of color. It has ruffle sleeves, which are right on trend. Also, it’s button up so you can wear a cute bralette under and show it off. Magic.

Basically we all need to be walking around wearing this super sweet summer favorite because it’s just that good.

cheers,

caitlin

loft sale picks

Y’all know by now, Loft is a go-to for me. It’s just so good sometimes. Perfect prints, inclusive sizing, and amazing sales, I mean what else do you need? Speaking of amazing sales, their whole store is on sale. So, I’m spreading the love and sharing my favorite Loft sale picks. Use the code: FRIENDS to get 40% off everything I’m sharing.

Work Tops

Loft is definitely my favorite spot to shop for work clothes. You can find more sale picks in this post and this one too. These tops are perfect for work because they are conservative, but still fun and super versatile. They can be worn by themselves or layered with a cardigan or jacket. The red wrap top is in my cart and is one of my favorites of all my Loft sale picks. Pro tip: wrap tops and dresses cinch in that tiny waist.

ONE. TWO. THREE

Casual Pieces

These are my favorite weekend/ casual Loft sale picks. First, this dress is darling. So beachy and so adorable. It looks cute dressed down, but would be just as cute with wedges for dinner. This top screams spring and summer and it’s always good to have a fun floral top in your closet. Put that fun floral top with these size inclusive and well-made jean shorts. Match made in heaven. These shorts are in my cart, too.

ONE. TWO. THREE.

Dresses

Y’all know if I could I would have my whole closet filled with dresses. They just make life easier and prettier, in my opinion. This red one is so gorgeous. It’s got a subtle embroidery detail that makes it not just your average shift dress. You can never go wrong with adding another LBD to your closet. And this gorgeous deep turquoise dress is so versatile. I have it in black and it’s magic.

ONE. TWO. THREE

Casual Tops

You can never have enough of those “throw on and go” tops. It’s even better when they’re actually cute and not college t-shirts. Even though you can regularly catch me in J’s old fraternity shirts. Anyways, these tops are so comfortable and the last one has the cutest beadwork detail. So good. And the first top comes in multiple colors and is super soft.

ONE. TWO. THREE

Accessories

How could I go through all my Loft sale picks and not share some good accessories with y’all? It just wouldn’t be fair. The best part, these pretty much speak for themselves. Rose gold, tassels, and tortoise shell, I mean come on.

ONE. TWO. THREE

spring trend: gingham

spring trend: gingham

What’s your favorite pattern to wear? How can you choose? There’s everything from leopard to plaid, but one of my favorite spring trends is taking over in the pattern department. Move over picnic tables, the gingham trend is here to stay and not under your summer barbecue. Even though it’s pretty good there too.

Gingham is such a fun print, but I know not everyone feels confident stepping out in a bold print. That’s totally okay. There are so many ways to incorporate this spring trend into your outfit. From big bold pieces to small accessories, you can go gingham however you fancy. And of course, I fancy it bold.

I’m loving this super fun take on the gingham trend with this dress. It’s so bright and colorful with a shape that is flattering for anyone. It’s just the definition of summertime to me. Not to mention, it’s under $50 and I feel like it’s so hard to find quality without breaking the bank lately.

Also, there has never been any shame in my ice cream game. It really just completes my outfit.

Aren’t the details of this dress so adorable? I love the colors and especially love the tie-front detail. I chose to wear a tank underneath, but you can totally go without. I’m wearing my fav earrings with this dress, but literally you could put it with any accessories. Simple studs or a bold earring like mine will look equally as good. And of course, I know it’s getting old, but I can’t get enough of these dang wedges. They’re. That. Good.

So, as far as bringing the gingham trend into your wardrobe, if you haven’t already, it just depends on how big you want to go. These are some of my favorite spring pieces for the gingham trend. Everything from big and bold to subtle and sweet.

spring weekend look

spring weekend look

Yes, it’s Friday. Yes, I never post on Friday. Yes, I couldn’t wait to share this spring weekend look with you. Can you blame me? This is the perfect easy weekend outfit when the usual t-shirt and workout shorts just won’t cut it. And as always, it won’t break the bank.

spring weekend look

First off, let’s talk about these shorts. They are the comfiest shorts I have ever owned and are my go-to for every weekend look. Seriously. I have them in a light blue and I have worn the heck out of them. They go with everything and they are a lot more breezy then some tight jean shorts. In Texas, I need all the breeze I can get in the spring and summer.

P.S. I’m not editing any of my pictures anymore except for the lighting. So no retouching here. So just be prepared for non-airbrushed legs and natural rolls all summer. Transparency. Remember?

close up weekend look

I tried on this top that I had been eyeing while I was in Dallas and it clearly made it home with me.  It is so flattering because of the wrap detail and I love that it’s low cut, but not too revealing. The color is a great unconventional neutral, it’s under $50, and I’ll be adding more colors to my closet soon. It’s that good. Also, it’s a perfect top for work if you add a tank underneath.

spring weekend look

I linked my earrings on yesterday’s work wear post. I kept my promise and gave y’all a closer look at these earrings, proud. They are so adorable and can clearly be dressed up or down. Easy peasy.

And just to keep this whole look basic, I’m wearing my new seriously favorite wedges in life. They are just so perfect for this weekend look and really with anything. Also, I feel super put together when I wear them, so that also helps. You can shop them on this post or here.

spring weekend look

Let me know what y’all think about 3 blog posts a week instead of 2! I’m thinking I like it, but I want to know your thoughts. Have the best Easter weekend y’all.

cheers,

work wear for spring: part two

work wear for spring: part two

Hey hey everyone, it’s Friday EVE. What better way to end the work week (if it hasn’t already ended) than with some more spring work wear.

Also, before we get down to it. I just had to say a HUGE thank you to y’all because of a quick little double tap on the ‘gram. Because y’all actually like what I post, brands like Loft notice me. And then this happens.

So, yeah. Thank y’all SO much. Let’s keep it up and see where we can take this thing?

Alright, so I had to round out the week with just a couple more pieces that I’m really loving for work and play.

Obviously, I’m loving all the spring prints over at Loft. This print is actually super similar to a new print at Show Me Your Mumu, so you know you’re trendy.

But, seriously how festive and fun is this top?! It has an adorable sleeve that is actually super practical. You can actually move your arms in this top. It’s so lightweight and can be layered with a cardigan in a pinch. Even better, it’s got so many colors in it that you can pair it with about any color bottoms. I’m wearing it with my favorite work pant, but it would be perfect with a pencil skirt too.

I’m linking my fav work pants here. They are always under $40 and come in so many different colors and patterns. I don’t have a lot of work pant knowledge because I’m more of a dress and skirt, girl. But, these are my go-to’s for now.

You can shop my shoes on my last work wear post. They have quickly become my favorite shoes. The double tassel, the super neutral color, everything. It’s got the perfect feminine touches on a traditional men’s shoe.

I had a blogger fail and didn’t get a good picture of my earrings, but I’ll post a better picture of them soon! I’m linking them here and they’re dreamy. They’re super lightweight and add that perfect amount of sparkle. You can pretty much wear them with anything. I love the gray color too, so depending on your hair color you can choose which ones will pop more. Or just whatever one’s you like more. Options are always good.

This whole look can be worn so many different ways, which makes it so effortless. Even if you just buy one piece from this work wear outfit, you can incorporate it into your closet easily.

cheers,

caitlin

spring feels

Happy Thursday, y’all! Just wanted to drop in and share a killer piece that you need for spring. More importantly, I wanted to share more with y’all about being vulnerable and what I want this blog to be like for all of us. I shared a little bit on my insta story about how I didn’t take the chance to share some insecurities on my last post. So, here’s my fav spring top and all my spring feels.

I wanted to share some thoughts with y’all that I failed to share on my last post. I’m just like everyone else, I have major insecurities and just because I gathered up the nerve to start Keeping It Caitlin, doesn’t mean I’m fearless. It’s actually a little bit of the opposite a lot of the time. Keeping It Caitlin is a place where a normal girl who wears the average American size (size 12 or 14) and loves clothes and sales.

I still get frustrated with how I look in pictures and question how y’all will respond to what I look like and what I share with y’all.

But sometimes I feel like a total babe and am so excited to share a look with y’all. Either way, I want to be someone you know that will always keep it super real and relatable. That’s honestly my favorite thing about some bloggers I follow. The ones constantly sharing their Gucci purchases and Valentino shoes are fun to see every once in a while, but it gets old. I don’t want to get old with y’all. I want to grow old with y’all. I want and will strive to be your go-to girl for body positivity and just being your best self. Let’s lean on each other along the way?

So, enough ranting about my feels. Here’s the gist. I’m here for y’all. Y’all are here for me. Be as honest as you want. Share your thoughts, ideas, feels, and opinions. I’ll do the same.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled fashion post. P.S. this top is under $30.

This top makes me feel so amazing. It’s got the most perfect sleeves and is a super flattering peplum style. It’s the perfect spring top, even though spring doesn’t last long around here. I paired it with my fav black jeans and new go-to shoes that you can find on this post.

It’s so easy to throw on and look put together, which is always a plus for me. And it’s finally a top where horizontal stripes actually work.

cheers,

caitlin
