2020 swimsuit guide

Okay, so I really wish I was diving into a pool currently, but I’m just as happy to be diving into my 2020 swimsuit guide. I’m giving you an overview of my favorite brands, trends, and styles when it comes to swimwear. I’m also sharing a couple tips to keep in mind when you’re swimsuit shopping. I know it’s not everyone favorite thing to shop for, but I hope you feel empowered and beautiful all summer long.

favorite high end swimsuits: Artesands + Summersalt.

If you’re wanting to get your monies worth with an investment swimsuit, I can’t recommend these two brands enough. I can’t link Artesands through the liketoknow.it app, but click HERE to shop their site. I have a bunch of their swimsuits and love them all! Summersalt is another higher end favorite of mine too. The quality is amazing and their prints/styles are ultra flattering.

favorite “go-to” swimsuits: Aerie.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you could probably guess that Aerie is my favorite go-to swimsuit shop. I can always count on fun prints, flattering styles, and there’s usually a good sale going on! I’ve shopped there for years and every swim season, I find my favorite pieces there. This year, my favorites are the longline bikini top and high waisted bottoms.

I personally hate when the band on swimsuits isn’t thick enough to lay flat on my back and not roll under. That problem was solved with the longline bikini top. It’s currently sold out in my color, but it’s available in a bunch of other colors and prints. And honestly, anything you find at Aerie is going to be flattering. I wear an XXL in everything, so it runs true to size.

best swimsuit variety: Amazon.

I mean it’s a little obvious because Amazon has the best variety for pretty much everything. Seriously though, when it comes to swimsuits, Amazon never lets me down and has literally everything. You can go with a wide search for just “women’s swimsuits” or narrow it down to exactly what you want like “plus size snake print swimsuit”. Plus with Prime delivery and easy returns, you can shop different sizes and styles to try out new things! I’m wearing an 18/XXL in all three swimsuits.

favorite affordable swimsuits: Walmart.

Walmart, TAKE ALL MY MONEY. Y’all, their swimsuits are so good this year. Heck, they might have been good every year, but I didn’t even look until recently. They have some super cute prints and styles. Also, they have most styles in regular and plus! I”m wearing an XXL in both styles.

favorite swimsuit trend: tie dye

I’m just full of surprises in this 2020 swimsuit guide tonight aren’t I? Because I’ve obviously been all over the tie dye trend, so naturally, it bled over into my swimwear collection. I’m obsessed with this fun one piece and can’t recommend it enough. It’s full coverage and the tie straps are a perfect detail! I’m wearing an xxl.

tips for finding the best swimsuit for your body type

To get that “cinched waist” look, go for a faux wrap top or something with a center detail to draw your eye in. Belted swimsuits are really trendy right now and would be a perfect option. I featured a perfect option that is currently on sale in THIS post.

If you aren’t rocking with the flattest stomach (which is TOTALLY beautiful too) then I would stay away from high hip waisted bottoms, which are a little different than the typical high waisted bottoms. They won’t sit flat against you and will leave a gap between you and the swimsuit. It’s a peep show, and not the good kind.

If you’re busty, you’ve probably tried lots of bikini tops throughout the years. My recommendation is to buy bra cup tops. Not the padded bra kind, unless you’re into that, but the kind that is actually sized by your bra size. That way, you can ensure it fits properly and is supportive. The best place I’ve found to get bra sized swimwear is HERE. Another place I’d highly recommend is Swimsuits for All!

Okay, I hope this 2020 swimsuit guide gave you a little direction and a little bit of hope too! You’re going to look amazing this summer! You got this girl!

Cheers,

Caitlin
