fall staple// midi skirt

It feels sooooo good to be back on the blog! I took the last week off to plan and honestly, not stress about the blog. But that just made me stress more because I wasn’t working on it. Weird how that works. (: Anyways, I’m so excited to start a fall staple series this week and I’m kicking it off with midi skirts. They have been in style for a while now, they’re perfect for fall transition, and they aren’t going anywhere. So, I’m sharing my tips and tricks for styling no matter your size and a bunch of midi skirt picks to get your fall wardrobe going!

my outfit

I couldn’t decide what midi skirt to share because right now satin skirts are super trendy. But then I also wanted to share a more casual look that was easy to recreate. That’s when I found this under $30 midi skirt with POCKETS. I feel like that’s very important to note.

funny story// I didn’t even know it had pockets until I was hanging it up. After I wore it for like an hour. So, then I went back and looked at the pictures, and yes the pocket is literally right in the center…. of course. But the blogger gods were looking out because my hand kinda covers it. HA. And y’all wonder why I call myself a hot mess express?! So anywho, it has pockets!

It also has a little paperbag waist detail, v trendy and is fully lined. I am wearing an xl and it fit perfectly. It has an elastic waistband, so it could probably fit up to a 2xl. And no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks, I’m still wearing the sweater tank that I styled 5 ways in THIS post. It’s just so good and super versatile. Keep scrolling to shop my whole outfit.

P.S. I rounded up a bunch of ways to style a midi skirt HERE if you need some inspo. Basically, you can’t go wrong when you’re putting it together in an outfit.

specialty sizes

For my petite girls, there are some really good retailers that carry petite skirts so you don’t have to worry about them being too long. Also, a good heel always makes your legs look longer. If you’re not a stiletto girl, a good nude shoe give that long leg look too!

For my curvy girls, I’ve linked some plus size midi skirt picks below. Depending on your size and the type of midi skirt you’re looking for, you could wear a regular size. In a flowier midi skirt, like the one I’m wearing, they usually have an elastic waist that fits multiple sizes. If you want a satin midi skirt or tighter fit, I would go true to size because it won’t have a lot of stretch.
