living room refresh

Remember when I was so excited about getting a new sofa? It feels like it was last year, but it was really just a long couple months of patience. Which it’s no secret, patience is not my favorite thing. But, after all that waiting, I’ve got a grown-up living room to share. Finally, a living room refresh.

First, have a vision. Do your research, pin whatever you love, and create a budget. For J and I, we knew we wanted a big sectional to replace our mix-matched furniture. We love the rest of our furniture in the living room and knew a new sofa and area rug would be the perfect upgrade without spending a fortune. By the way, our rug is so gorgeous and the online picture doesn’t do it justice.

Research is so important. I read so much about fabrics and what fabrics would work best in our home. The fabric was so important to me because I wanted this living room refresh to last a long time. I also knew I wanted clean lines and a more transitional look.

When it comes to the budget, find a sale. That’s the key to getting what you want. Find out when your favorite furniture store is having a sale or when they increase their financing months. We lucked out because I live near a huge furniture store and they were having a great financing deal.

I should of snapped a before picture, but you can see some of it here. Trust me, our living room was sad. It was begging for a living room refresh, and so was I. It was dark and my biggest complaint was it wasn’t stylish and light. But a little research and shopping changed the whole room. It feels light, on trend, and is somewhere I actually want to hangout in.

The finishing touches included this sweet wire basket with rose gold handles, our favorite dreamy candle, and lots of colorful pillows. Our coffee table is so perfect with the more industrial bar cart, so it of course stayed.

If you can’t make it to the store where I got all my living room refresh essentials, I’ve got a couple of favorite places to get furniture and home decor. West Elm, Joss and Main, Target, and yes, Walmart are some of my favorite places to shop for our house.

Lastly, you can shop my ultra-comfy tee here. P.S. it’s under $15!

cheers,

caitlin
